Meet Marcia Murphy, MA
Anxiety Counseling, Addiction Counseling, & Marriage Counseling
Sometimes life seems out of balance and we do not know why. We all deal with stressful or overwhelming circumstances and can use unhealthy ways of managing and maintaining our lives. We can let our emotions get the best of us. We may have experiences in our past which can hinder us from reaching our full potential. If you are feeling anxious, depressed, unfulfilled, or out of balance I would be pleased to walk with you to find greater well-being and balance in your life. I can help you understand how your emotional, mental, physical and spiritual health are crucial to feeling whole and help you find ways to manage those things that are causing stress. I can work with you overcome past hurt while looking toward a fulfilling future.
I am dedicated to help those who are involved in unhealthy relationships. We can get so caught up in connections with others that affect our self-confidence and well-being, and we may even lose sight of who we are as a person. If you find yourself in a destructive or abusive relationship, and struggle with self-esteem, I would like to help you find your voice and empower you to create the life you deserve and desire.
Relationships are really what life is all about. Sometimes marriage gets tough. I help couples identify what is really standing in their way of a healthy relationship. Together, we set goals and learn new skills to change unhelpful patterns and learn new ways to grow as a team.
I have experience helping those who have been in addiction and am able to walk with you as you seek to live in recovery. I understand how situations, thoughts and emotions can trigger urges to return to those unhealthy means of coping. I would be pleased to help you with managing your sobriety in your recovery journey.
Marcia’s Treatment Focus
I am a firm believer that we all have in us the ability to reach our full potential. I focus on helping you find a balance in all areas of your life to include physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. I believe we all seek a sense of purpose and want to help you find meaning while navigating the challenges that life circumstances present. I perceive counseling as a partnership in which we work together on the areas in your life that are a struggle. I use a strength-based approach to treatment to help you recognize those things already have inside you to overcome difficulties and move toward a future that you desire. I use and teach mindfulness techniques to help manage stress and anxiety.
Marcia’s Therapeutic Approach
I utilize these approaches:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Addiction Counseling
Marcia works with clients who reside in Pennsylvania.
I graduated with my Masters in Counseling in 2019 and I am currently accruing supervision hours for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania. My work at Lime Tree Counseling is supervised by Nathan Bailey, MA, LPC.
Marcia’s Background
I received my MA in Counseling from Eastern University in 2019. Since graduation, I have been working in the addictions field in both an inpatient and outpatient capacity. I have experience facilitating group counseling sessions. Most recently, I have been counseling women with children and the unique challenges they are confronted with. I strive for a culturally-informed mindset and use evidence-based practices in my approach.
I also work as a Teacher’s Assistant at Eastern University in the Counseling Psychology program and am a parent educator with the Parents as Teachers program in Coatesville.
In my leisure time, I enjoy needlecrafts and outdoor activities, and I take advantage of the many parks and nature preserves in the area to go hiking. I serve on the worship team and with the youth at my church. My passion is ringing handbells and I am a member of the advanced level handbell ensemble, Philadelphia Bronze.
