Do You Feel Nervous Most of the time?
Life is super busy. You have work, kids, friends, and other commitments. You love your family, and for the most part, things are good. And yet, every day you have this unsettled feeling. When will the next bad thing happen? You play the “what if” game: What if my spouse dies in a car crash? What if my kid’s fever is really cancer? What if I lose my job? What if I look stupid during my work presentation? What if no one likes me? These constant, negative thoughts and questions are common for individuals who have disordered levels of anxiety, but the good news is – this doesn’t have to be something you just accept as “normal.”
If you’ve been struggling with anxiety and you’re ready to begin your journey toward reclaiming your life, we can help. At Lime Tree Counseling, we specialize in treating anxiety. Our experienced counselors love to help people find healing. We look forward to helping you regain control of your life through therapy.
Do I Need Anxiety Counseling?
Stress and anxiety are a part of life for everyone; although, when your anxiety starts to impact your ability to live a healthy life, taking away your joy and overshadowing the good things, you will absolutely benefit from professional counseling.
For many, constant worry is exhausting. You don’t sleep well, often waking up and staying up the rest of the night. You have tension in your neck and shoulders constantly. Sometimes your heart races and you feel lightheaded, and you’re not sure why. At this point you’re living in a fight or flight state of being which can cause issues and problems in your mind, body and life.
You start to avoid places and people that feel overwhelming. Your family and friends don’t know what to say to help you. And sometimes, you get a little controlling, because having things your own way makes you feel better. However, your loved ones don’t like it too much.
Your brain responds to a threat or danger by releasing stress hormones. We call these adrenaline and cortisol. Sometimes the actual danger is not real, in this instance these hormones cause the physical symptoms of anxiety. Once you have bypassed the situation, your body will usually return to its normal state.
If you have an anxiety disorder these feelings of fear and danger can be persistent and can impact your daily life in an ongoing manner. These feelings heighten your sense of worry and panic.
It’s important to note that everyone’s experience of anxiety is different, and not everyone who has an anxiety disorder will experience the same symptoms.
You Are Not Alone
Some anxiety and stress in life is normal, even helpful. When your anxiety starts to keep you from enjoying your days, you should consider reaching out to a therapist who specializes in anxiety treatment. The more we try to ignore it; the more anxiety grows.
Anxiety is a very common concern for many people. Take the bold step to acknowledge you need help, and you’ll discover others around you fight anxiety as well. Knowing others around you have similar experiences will give you hope in your own efforts to overcome anxiety. With the help of a skilled therapist, you can reclaim peace in your life and refocus on the people and things that really matter to you.

Anxiety Therapy can help you enjoy life again
Chronic anxiety is like any other health problem that requires treatment. It doesn’t just heal in time. Researchers have made a lot of progress in the last few decades in treating mental health conditions. Your Lime Tree Counseling counselor will tailor a treatment plan that works for you.
We know how hard it can be to feel like anxiety has you frozen. To begin therapy, we help you describe and identify how your anxiety shows itself. Then, we work on coping skills and lifestyle changes to minimize anxiety symptoms. This could include mindfulness, grounding techniques, and help with sleep. We also work on how you view the big picture of your life and tweak any false beliefs that are feeding your anxiety. We work through anxiety on two levels: your day to day functioning and the deeper level of what fuels your anxiety. In the first session we will get a feel for who you are and your backstory. We may talk about past experiences, childhood, triggers or negative beliefs. During the first session, we will gather information from you to help us create a “roadmap” that will guide our therapy. We always proceed at your pace, and we incorporate your feedback into our planning.
You will have the support of your therapist the whole way. Slowly, you will start to experience life with less and less anxiety. Whether you are seeking help for trauma related anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, or general anxiety, we can help!
Still Have Questions About Anxiety Therapy?
- I think I need anxiety counseling, but isn’t therapy expensive?
- Professional counseling is an investment in yourself and your loved ones. By devoting resources to your own growth and wellbeing, you will lower stressors in all areas of life, even in other relationships. Also, uncontrolled stress and anxiety contributes to many long-term illnesses. Learning skills to minimize anxiety now, contributes to keeping healthcare costs lower overall.
- I don’t want to be in therapy forever. If I start, will I ever finish?
- Yes! While we enjoy seeing our clients, our goal is to work ourselves out of a job. We can’t tell you how long your therapy will take, as everyone is different; however, therapy should have an ending point.
- What if therapy makes my anxiety worse?
- Ignoring anxiety makes it grow in power. Facing your anxiety in therapy can be challenging, but you’ll have your therapist there to guide and support you. Sweeping your anxiety under the rug will never make it better.
